23|Celebrating Strengths, Not Just Fixing Challenges
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
In this uplifting episode, we step away from the constant “fix it” checklist and shine a light on something powerful: celebrating the incredible strengths already woven into our autistic children.
As moms, it’s easy to get stuck in therapies,
goals, and accommodations — and those things matter — but when we only focus on
challenges, we miss the brilliance right in front of us. Today we explore how
intentionally noticing and celebrating strengths reduces stress, builds
confidence in our kids, and brings more joy and balance into our parenting.
You’ll hear: • Why leading with strengths
(instead of deficits) actually makes kids more willing to tackle hard things •
Real-life examples of quiet and obvious strengths — from deep focus and pattern
recognition to creativity, persistence, and empathy • How reframing
“challenges” as strengths when supported (deep focus → expertise, love of
routine → reliability) changes everything • A simple daily practice: Ask
yourself “What did my child do well today?” and celebrate it out loud • The
heart of Graceful Parenting — holding both the hard days and the beautiful
gifts at the same time
Plus, a beautiful reminder from Psalm 139:14:
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made…” — a verse that
reminds us our children’s unique wiring is not a mistake to fix, but a gift to
nurture.
This episode is for every mom who needs to
hear: You are doing an incredible job. Your child is already amazing exactly as
they are.
Action Step This Week Notice
and celebrate ONE strength in your child each day — a high five, a note, a hug,
or even just a quiet “I see you” in your heart. Watch how it shifts the whole
atmosphere in your home.
